Creating a Cleaner World with One Subway Swipe

Skills:

           Excel           Adobe Illustrator

Residing in New York City for four years has opened my eyes to the benefits of public transportation. Moving from AZ to NY, I was skeptical about leaving my car behind and taking the subway everywhere. Now, I couldn't see myself commuting any other way in NYC! Living in a world where global warming has become something our children might have to experience first-hand prompted me to create this infographic.

Having prior experience using Excel and Adobe Illustrator helped me focus on how infographic design should grab the reader's attention and keep them enthralled by the information presented. This class specifically taught me to think of the logistics of infographics and what they should look like based on the information the author is trying to show.

I created a bright infographic that could catch the reader's eye at gas stations. This venue seemed appropriate due to the infographic's content focusing on carbon emissions and why public transportation is beneficial. The vision for the design was wanting people pumping their expensive gas to think about how to create fewer carbon emissions while saving a buck!

This infographic should be displayed in gas stations around the United States, primarily in other big cities, to show the comparison between them and us. If this infographic speaks to the audience, people will speak up and promote more public transit usage in their city.
