Nowadays, social media controls everything. It decides what clothes you buy, what music you like, what recipe you want to try next, and even the ideal body type. The influence social media has on today’s world is astonishing. For this reason, I chose a company whose brand awareness wasn’t where it should be and created a plan for them to reach their full potential.
I based the artifact on my love for skateboarding, notably Thrasher Magazine. Since I was young, skaters everywhere repped the brand by wearing their shirts and hats and even just having their posters in their rooms. The skateboard culture inspired me to create a better social media presence for the magazine and use tactics their targeted audience would respond to.
The project taught me a lot about social media design and social media tactics. It also taught me to research the brand and ensure that the content created aligns with its message while still creating a likable post. When creating a social media plan, you must compare your posts with other companies that attract the same audience to focus on where you need to improve and what they might be doing differently.
Project:
My choice of Thrasher Magazine was fascinating because this brand has existed long before Instagram. My goal was to create posts that aligned with their product mission. The revamp of their social media was based on posts that would attract my eye because I fall into their intended audience.
While doing the project, the targeted audience was heavily considered, as well as the brand values. Focusing on the platform Instagram, my plan created a structured outline to keep Thrasher Magazine’s social media presence alive while keeping their mission and values at the core.
