Preparing People for the Future: Automated
Vehicle's Training Program
Microsoft Word Research Critical Thinking Psychology
Skills:
Does the future of automated vehicle driving spark nervousness for you? Have you ever considered the psychology behind it? Are you interested in learning more? Then this training program might be for you! I created the program to desensitize people to their fears of automated driving or, on the contrary, educate individuals who blindly trust technology using questionnaires and tests that were done over four weeks.
The program uses phycological concepts to ensure that people have confidence in automated driving or that they do not feel too relaxed and unaware while using the automated driving system. We can see if our drivers are generally anxious or relaxed by comparing their heart rates in both automatic and non-automated driving modes.
In creating this program, it was necessary to consider a person’s emotions and cognitive bias. Personal experience driving a car with automated features clarified my development of this program. This project was assigned to test if we students could take the information provided by the text and formulate something that could benefit society.
Preparing for this project helped me think of concepts in a different light and use research to delve into a deeper level of thinking. Using this program in real-world scenarios will generate safer drivers.
